105 Main is currently auditioning for a female vocalist and additional musicians to form a house band/orchestra of sorts. The type of music will be an original take on smooth jazz and pop with a focus on original compositions. Musicians need to be at least intermediate level and able to read chord symbols, notation or be adept by ear.
Instruments that are welcome include percussion, bass, keys, violin/cello, woodwinds, etc, as long as one can adapt to the style. The guitarist slot has already been filled by your's truly, Gary Phillips.
For the vocal audition, one should come prepared to sing one of the following:
"Killing Me Softly" by Roberta Flack
"America" by Simon & Garfunkel
"Time After Time" by Cindy Lauper
It doesn't have to be perfect - this is a laid back affair - and lyrics can and will be printed.
This is a highly speculative venture. I have no idea if there are any musicians in the area who may be interested in this experiment. There will be future performances hosted at 105 Main so if you are a solo or have a small group and are interested in performing in the future, feel free to add your contact info.
Note that anyone under 18 wishing to audition must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.
